Clean camp, not casual snacks. Around redwood campgrounds, keep food, trash, toiletries, and scented items sealed and stored.
Roosevelt elk are huge, keep your distance. Herds of Roosevelt elk graze the meadows here and a bull weighs as much as a small car.
Gold Bluffs is still open coast. If you add Gold Bluffs Beach, stay back from the surf and drift logs.

Fern Canyon permit window. From May 15 to Sept 15 you need a free online permit to drive to Fern Canyon. Get it before you lose service; the dirt road is narrow with stream crossings, and large RVs cannot make it.
